Athletic Center Construction Update

First, thank you for your patience.

The renovation of the Athletic Center began Wednesday, 12/7/11 at 7:30 AM.

Please click on this link for before & after plans.  http://www.chattahoocheecountryclub.com/uploads/Athletic-Renovation-2011-Before-and-After.pdf

For the next few months there will be noise and dust and other inconveniences usually associated with renovations but the Athletic Center will remain open as much as we safely can. The construction will be performed in phases with little disruption to classes and facilities. Please be aware that there may be days when we will need to close but they will be kept to a minimum and the days and times will be posted as soon as we receive the information.

We will be updating this page every time we have something to pass onto you so bookmark this page for easy access to the latest on the Athletic Center renovation. You may also go to the photo gallery to see renovation images http://www.chattahoocheecountryclub.com/about/photo-galleries/?album=1&gallery=55.

UPDATE 2/3/12: All ares open today, but the Women’s locker room and the Men’s steam room will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, February 6 & 7 for plumbing work. There is a possibility that the women will have access to their lockers but the restroom and shower area will be closed. The weight room walls are framed in and the exterior stucco is finished. More sheetrock will installed next week.

UPDATE 1/27/12: All areas open. There’s been no word from the plumbers so it could be early next week before they have to close the Ladies’ locker room. If you haven’t seen the renovation so far you’re in for a big surprise. The old exterior walls have been moved out and we’ve grown about 1,000 square feet! Wow, does it look bigger. We’re finishing removing the rest of the old walls today. No work planned this weekend.

UPDATE: 1/23 – 1/27/12: The ladies’ locker room and the men’s steam room will be closed in the near future, possibly as soon as Friday, 1/27/12. As soon as plumbers can confirm their work schedule we will pass it onto you. All other areas are open. The steam generators are being moved to a better location. They are currently in the ceiling over the locker rooms. This makes them very difficult to work on and maintain.  They are being moved to our boiler room.

UPDATE: 1/24 & 1/25/12: LADIES’ LOCKER ROOM CLOSED FOR A FEW HOURS  but all other areas should be open.

UPDATE: 1/16/12 – 1/22/12. All areas open. Limited noise as it will be mostly outside. The plan for this week is to move the existing outer walls (french-door windows) to the new exterior walls one at a time. As soon as they remove one wall to the outside they well place plywood over the hole to keep us warm and provide security. Once all the walls have been moved to their new locations and the area is again sealed from the weather, they will remove the plywood.

UPDATE: 1/8/12 – 1/15/12: All areas open. Construction has slowed but continues. The current exterior walls are being prepped for removal. This consists of removing the stucco and some of the insulation.

UPDATE: 1/1/12 – 1/7/12: All areas open. Renovation continues as they build the framework for the new exterior walls.

UPDATE: 12/24/11 – 12/31/11: All areas open.  Construction is ongoing except for the holiday days. Limited noise and dust as they work on the locker rooms.

UPDATE 12/23/11: All areas open but the entrance is closed until Saturday at 5am. PLEASE NOTE, members are asked to enter and exit the Athletic Center from the upstairs Clubhouse until Saturday at 5AM. They are pouring concrete today, tearing up the old concrete at the Men’s locker room addition, and doing some work on the office.

UPDATE 12/22/11: All areas open but entrance closed. Final removal and prep of the entrance concrete. PLEASE NOTE, members are asked to enter and exit the Athletic Center from the upstairs Clubhouse starting Thursday at 3 pm until Saturday at 5am. They are also working on the hallway walls where the office will be.

UPDATE 12/21/11: All areas open. More tear-out of the Men’s locker area with noise and dust. Also the remaining break-up of the concrete at our entrance.

UPDATE 12/20/11: All areas open. Some dust and a little noise but possibly very noisy after 2 PM.  They began to tear out the portion of the Men’s locker room that will go to the Ladies. Later they plan to break up the old concrete outside the cardio area so they can pour new concrete later. This should last three days.

UPDATE 12/19/11: All areas open. A new Men’s locker room door was installed in preparation for making the new hallway.

UPDATE 12/17 & 18: All areas open. No work this weekend

UPDATE 12/16/11: All areas open for exercise. The concrete was poured early this morning. The crew is starting the removal of the ceiling under the Veranda. On Monday, Dec. 19, they may start in the locker rooms. No closures of the locker rooms are expected at this time. Men’s lockers 109 – 127 will be temporarily moved to the middle of the locker room. Members with these lockers are encouraged to move their belongings prior to Monday.

UPDATE 12/15/11: All areas open for exercise. Some dust and hammering today. Construction is ahead of schedule so far. The steel was installed on only one day and there’s a metal floor where the stairwell use to be. The concrete for this floor is scheduled to be poured Friday. They are removing more walls and ceilings in this area and by the old office today. On Monday, Dec. 19, they may start in the locker rooms. No closures of the locker rooms are expected at this time. Men’s lockers 109 – 127 will be temporarily moved to the middle of the locker room. Members with these lockers are encouraged to move their belongings prior to Monday.

UPDATE 12/14/11: All areas are open for exercise. A little drilling noise until 10:30, then quiet after that. They are installing steel for the new floor for the next two days.

UPDATE 12/13/11: All areas are open for exercise. Quiet again today, but some dust. They are  carefully removing the office wall as well as the wall behind the counter for the radios. The Tipton crew is working very hard to keep everything as clean as possible. Hopefully the steel will be installed tomorrow for the new floor.

UPDATE 12/12/11: All areas are open for exercise. Quiet today but still dusty. Exercises and classes continue as normal. The small classroom and office continue to be quietly torn apart. The office door is kept close to limit dust and noise. The City Inspector approved the footing area and the footing was poured.

UPDATE 12/9/11: All areas are open for exercise. Dusty today. They’re removing the small classroom & office today and preparing to pour concrete footings for the steel supports for the new floor (where the stairwell use to be).

UPDATE 12/8/11: All areas are open for exercise. Noisy today. More noise today as they continue to cut and break up the old stairwell.

UPDATE 12/7/11: The renovation started right on time this morning. All areas are open for exercise. As expected, it will be noisy at times today and possibly tomorrow as a jack-hammer is in use to help remove the one racquetball stairwell.

UPDATE 12/6/11: NOISE, DUST & TEMPORARY ENTRANCE: The renovation will begin Wednesday 12/7/11 with the removal of one of the racquetball stairwells. It will be noisy on Wednesday and Thursday as they cut and grind and break up the steel and concrete for removal. On Thursday or Friday they will remove the Athletic office and small classroom. Classes will be in a racquetball court until renovation is complete.

Starting possibly Saturday or possibly Monday, 12/12, the patio outside the Athletic Center entrance will be replaced. Members will be asked to park and enter from upstairs for that next week.
